Baseline Survey Report

According to Kenya Vision 2030, the vision for the education sector for 2030 is “to have globally competitive quality education, training and research for sustainable development”. Four strategic areas, namely: access; quality; equity; science, technology and innovation have been identified for support. It is envisaged that in order to achieve this vision, one of the ways is to provide all students with a better learning environment, including improved teaching skills and more textbooks. The targets under this goal are to: reduce the teacher to student ratio from 1:47 to 1:40; reduce the textbook to pupil ratio from 1:3 to 1:1; and integrate ECDE into primary education pharmacy (Kenya Vision 2030, October 2007).
